Can you commit for one week?

I received a lot of feed back after my last blogpost and I thank each of you who took the time to share your truth, your experiences, offer your wisdom and advice but most of all I thank you for the love and encouragement as I continue to open up further to the light.

I'm still processing all that I am going through, working with the wonderful messages that are coming forth and doing my best to integrate changes.

As I mentioned in my last blog "I am open and ready to receive guidance" but I've discovered staying open isn't always easy, especially when you hear things that you don't want to believe as true! So this week I've been practicing remaining open to all of the suggestions no matter how foreign they may sound.

Many people pray or ask for guidance but then they don't take the time to listen to the whispers from spirit around them or simply shrug off the bombardment of signs aka messages that are delivered, I committed myself to understanding that only God, my angels, my higher self, were speaking to me this week. That absolutely everything I heard was a message for my emotional health and healing.

So even when I heard proposals like "you should consider medication" or "it's the devil" I remained open despite the negative aspect of ego that did everything it could to close me down. When I felt the resistance I took time to truly see what I was actually resisting and find the pearl of truth that was being offered by this particular angel's message.

I'll start with the suggestion that I should consider medication because this one came in a few times and I immediately scoffed. While I'm grateful for the existence of pharmaceuticals, especially in those times when assistance is needed during the healing process, I do however believe that without getting to the (spiritual) root of the issue and simply medicating the medication will just act as a band-aid, the underlying issue will not dissolve it will simply manifest in other areas.

But in an effort to remain open I committed to seeking professional help if I couldn't make headway by the end of the month, And furthermore I contemplated what was said "you should consider medication" and the reality "medicine" for me has always been more about supplements and vitamins and even more importantly from an Ayurvedic philosophy food.

Ayurveda is a ancient medical care system that translates to the science (or knowledge) of life. My very first trip to India was for an Ayurvedic retreat where I learned the importance of eating the right foods for my body type. Healthy food doesn't always mean its the correct food, shocking I know!

So remembering my teachings here in India I understand anger is related to a Pitta imbalance so this is where I've begun, with the help of a trusted Ayurvedic Doctor and my own knowledge I am eating a much more mindful diet, and taking time to find the balance needed for this dosha.

If your interested in finding out more about Dosha's click the link to take the free Dosha quiz.

And when my dear friend told me it was "the Devil and I needed to rebuke the devil verbally". I had visions of me loosing my *hit then claiming a defence of ' the devil made me do it!' my ego encouraged me to laugh it off but once again my commitment to remain open over ruled and I took a breath, asked her to give a me moment to let her words find a truth somewhere inside of me.

I don't believe in the devil or hell as many Christian's see it, so it was a little hard for me to swallow but then I thought about what the devil does represent to me. I believe the devil is a personification of what does not serve our highest version of self, the distractions (demons) that keep us from being in our naturally blissful (Christ Conscious) state. Again an angel had spoken and I was heeding the advice which was put to the test later that day; when I felt angry I cried out "Nope, this is not me or mine. Universe show me instead where to direct this energy"

Shortly afterwards it was suggested that "I stomp my feet like a child having a tantrum to let it out," something that makes my kids laugh out loud and the sound of their giggles is enough to soothe any angry mood like they say laughter is the best medicine!

Many people proposed I work on grounding myself one that stood out particularly recommended physically touching the ground, then my husband was watching a movie and when the student was consumed by his anger his Sensei (martial arts teacher) had him 'take a knee.'  See what I mean friends, advice from the divine was/is all around ;)

So the work continues, I understand frustrations will arise especially as a mother of two small children and being in an intercultural marriage but what I'm working with is not just a frustration, it is something larger, a force if you will, but by implementing the above changes I have started to make some headway and I know there is more to it, I'll get to the bottom, or root, of it you know why? Because my beloved and these love bugs, heck I, deserve nothing more than to be my highest version of self.

And so the Spiritual adventure continues and I invite you to join me...

Can you commit for one week? One week of understanding that only God (insert whatever you want here: universe, source, spirit...) is talking to you? Let go of all resistance to anything and everything you hear and see if a pattern arises that is offering you a gateway to walk through, so you too may be more aligned with your truth? I'd love to hear about the experience...

God is Love & Love is God

I never understood the belief that there was only one true path to God. For me God is love and love is God. The beauty in the Hindu faith is the recognition that there are many different paths but all lead to the same place. The philosophy is that God has had to take on many different forms in order to appeal to the different mindsets of mankind. Not everyone thinks alike so each individual person will gravitate towards what feels right for them. Hindu’s accept Allah, Jesus, Buddha and of course of thousands of Gods and Goddesses within their faith knowing that they all lead to the same omnipresent source.
Here in Vrindaban it is the playground of Lord Krishna. In the west when we hear the name Krishna our minds instantly go to bald headed, tambourine shaking, “Hare Krishna’s.”  Those are members of a following known as ISKCON (International Society of Krishna Consciousness). Assuming that anyone who worships Krishna is a ‘Hare Krishna’ is like saying anyone who believes in Jesus is a born again Christian. It is but a small part of the Krishna faith.
My first experience with Krishna was in BC; I could hear tambourines and chanting, looking out my window and saw a group of people dressed in saffron robes dancing in the street, my friends laughed but I smiled but for a different reason, the tune they were singing “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare… “was making my heart tingle. That night I inquired about these people I had seen, I was told they were a cult and to steer clear.
A few months later I was approached on the street by a normal looking dude who he asked me for a donation towards a meal program to feed the many homeless, being a starving student I joked I might need to join him for a meal, he handed me a card looking deep into my eyes and told me “I was welcome anytime” his authenticity pierced my soul, when I looked at the card once again I saw Krishna’s name.
I’ve never been interested in getting involved with any particular faith; I’m not one for strict rules. But once again years later, little did I know I was still being beckoned by Krishna’s flute and promise of unconditional love. I didn’t know Vrindaban was famous for Krishna’s pastimes until I arrived. My first temple experience coincidently was ISKCON and as Krishna’s form was revealed tears streamed down my cheeks, I thought this must be what some people feel when they go to church. I had longed for this type of connection and here it was I was overwhelmed with love.
I will never be a ‘devotee’ one particular faith is to limiting but living in this auspicious town I am fortunate to have over 5000 temples to choose from daily , where I get to sit, filling my heart and soul, basking in the glory of devotional love.

A Drop in the Celestial Bucket

I wake up and make my way to the kitchen to prepare chai. I touch the feet of Papaji then Mummiji it’s a sign of respect but also a request for their blessings. From the roof I watch the rising sun; coming up quickly it showers the sky in a cornucopia of colour; maroons, pinks and gold’s. Like me its eager to see a new day. A family of monkeys jump across the rooftops. Temple bells begin ringing and my heart fills, I remember my breath and OM three times.
At one of my favorite temples, ladies string flower malas outside; inside the deities are revealed during the most intense portion of kirtan (spiritual music). I look into the eyes of Radha her message pours into my heart “Stop worrying, everything is happening exactly as it should, trust”. Krishna’s energy calls my attention “I’m with you, why do you still question anything?”  My faith grows “how can I be of service?” I ask. “Finish your book!” I’m once again prompted to remember the words that are waiting to be written.
On our way home the streets are filled with people. Stopped by the crowd there’s hardly room to maneuver the motorcycle. Somehow my partner finds space between the patrons, “hang on” he says, his words have more depth than just the present moment. Change is stirring in the air, I embrace it and him tightening my grip but I relax remembering to trust, not just his skills as a driver but the flow of life.
Sometimes instead of concentrating on the direction we are travelling while racing through the chaos that is Indian traffic I prefer to watch the scenery. We pass auto rickshaws decorated with images of God, saffron robes, a brown cow, a white cow, then a pink and blue cow (still has colour on it from Holi). A saddhu dances to music only he can hear. I remember the beat of my own drum.
At home a spider makes its way from a tree branch to the ground, halfway down a bird flies in snagging him as a tasty treat. A blue butterfly dances around the flower pot. As I enter my room my two year old niece is rolling on my bed by herself laughing for no apparent reason.  Mummiji offers me a small yellow fruit called rasbhri that resembles a very small plum, its tart but sweet, my new favorite. I remember life can often taste the same.
Before dinner we head to YamunaJi (Holy River) the stars are piercing the sky, incense is wafting in the air and waterbirds sing a lullaby. Watching her current flow; she’s quicker than before. Like life she too seems to be speeding up. Time is passing quickly and I have work that needs to be done. I pray for guidance and time.  My partner takes my hand “tomorrow you should take the day to write your book.” God has answered again this time I’ll remember to take action.
